WriteOn Awards–July 9
The end of the second week of July–eek! That can’t be, but yes, I have to admit that my days solely writing (and playing with my kiddos) are numbered as I’m on the other side of the hump. School starts in four weeks people. Okay, enough unnecessary stressing on onto my favorite blogs of the week.
My first WriteOn Award goes to the site Restless Writers managed by a trio of talented ladies, Maria McDonald, Lori Dyan, and Bjas (Beckie). I loved Beckie’s post on “37 Videos for Writers.” There is a wealth of information here for aspiring writers so go and check it out.
L.M. Lawrence also gets a WriteOn Award because of her posts this week on the writing process and relating it to CAKE–yum. Both “Writing in Layers” and “Editing in Layers” list some helpful tips as well as make my mouth water.
I have to give another WriteOn Award to Heather’s Odyssey for calling me on my lazy writing with her post on “Making Your Character Their Own Person.” Sometimes when I’m writing, I slip into the–what would I do in this situation–and Heather reminded me that even though it’s my world, it’s not all about me, but my characters–thanks.
My last, but certainly not least, WriteOn Award goes to Jennifer Hubbard’s blog, WriterJenn for her post of setting. She reminded me that as much as I focus on my characters, I can’t forget that setting is important too. And because of her posts, I’ve added The Secret Year to my Goodreads list.
